Sue Sullivan – Executive Director/President

Until the formation of the BID in 2022, Sue was the Executive Director of both Newmarket Community Partners and the Newmarket Business Association. For over 30 years, Sue has been the constant voice in the City of Boston for the growth and vibrancy of industrial businesses, or as she puts it, “the backbone of the City”. A staunch advocate for job creation, she believes that these businesses create an enhanced quality of life for those in need by providing good jobs in close proximity to the neighborhoods and individuals that need those jobs.

A graduate of Holy Cross College, in her past professional life, Sue provided consulting services to private businesses and economic development assistance to cities and towns, spent 13 years as a hotel Director of Sales and 5 years as the owner and operator of Silver Service, a full-service catering business. She is past Chair of the Hingham Development Industrial Commission and is currently active on a number of Boards. Sue and her husband, Jack, live on the South Shore with one of their 3 adult sons and she is happiest playing tennis, entertaining or relaxing with friends and family.

Carol has been with the BID since its inception in January 2022. A talented leader with over 35 years of experience, Carol is the director of our highly successful Homeless Back2Work Program and Homeless Storage Program. Through the work program, Carol’s efforts are herculean in bringing challenged individuals along the path to recovery and stability.

Certified in public procurement laws with expertise in the areas of public policy/administration, budgeting, and project management, Carol is also instrumental as our Director of Human Resources. In her free time, Carol enjoys digital scrapbooking and spending time with her husband and three children.

Ben began working for Newmarket as a college intern in 2016. He was instrumental in all phases of bringing the BID to fruition in 2022. Now, as a Senior Program Manager, he oversees the operations between the BID and its security partners, as well government outreach and communications with stakeholders. Ben is a graduate of University of Massachusetts Boston, where he studied History and Public Policy. He enjoys music, hiking and going out with his girlfriend.

Chris started working in June 2022 as a summer intern tasked with website design. When he became a Project/Program Coordinator, his role expanded to include working with Carol on the Back2Work Program. Today, Chris can be found on the street, supervising the day to day operations of the street beautification crew and acting as a sounding board for crew members in need. In addition, he handles much of the administrative work for the Program. He is a dog lover and a big fan of all Boston sports teams.

Jane Arnold – Resource Advocate

Jane is responsible for opening the path for our Back2Work crew members to full-time employment by assisting them with obtaining legal id’s and clearing up any legal cases they have pending.

Jane received her BA in English from Bowdoin College and a JD from Suffolk University Law School. Her legal career has included working as a staff attorney and manager of regulatory affairs for a medical device manufacturer and 15 years working in Social Security disability law, initially representing claimant’s and later an attorney advisor for the Social Security Administration.

Sierra moved to the Boston area in 2019 as a recent graduate from Santa Clara University with a B. A. in Philosophy to participate in the PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteer program. Following that year of service, she pursued a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management at Northeastern University. Now, Sierra uses her skills in communication, her heart for the most vulnerable, and her passion for community engagement and relationship building to be present to all who engage with the Newmarket BID. In her free time, Sierra likes to knit, play board games with her husband, and snuggle with her cat, Nori!

Michael Collins – Program Manager

Michael joined the team in the summer of 2024 in response to the growing and successful Back2Work program. In his role as Program Manager, Michael is focused on the day-to-day operations of the Back2Work Program and our Street Beautification program. His deep knowledge of the area, passion for this work, and experience in recovery services makes him an excellent addition to the Newmarket BID Team!

For over 8 years, Michael gained an incredible amount of experience by working within multiple detox centers to running a male program with 35 beds, as assistant to the director. Michael’s experience has allowed him the opportunity to assist people placed into treatment and into long-term programs, and has had great success advocating within probate courts for indiviudals to get on a treatment plan rather than serve jail time. He is very passionate about helping people come out of the grips of active addiction. He enjoys helping others find hope and purpose by training and teaching them that they truly deserve a successful, fulfilling career. Michael says that there is “no greater feeling in the world than watching the people he has helped succeed.”
